Antique French Armoire with Lock & Key

Antique French Armoire.

First build in the 19th century, this beautiful old armoire has been professionally restored and it makes a striking piece of decor for any home.

Large in size, this has a cabinet section on the top with three internal shelves, as well as a single drawer underneath- the detailed silver locks are a lovely added detail!

This still has the original key, so the doors and drawer are fully lockable- there is also a hidden compartment underneath the drawer once this has been removed, the false base simply lifts up one side!

Build from old pine and once painted white- this has started to flake away in areas and the wood has developed a beautiful timeworn patina throughout. The pine inside has been waxed with a natural beeswax to nourish the wood.

New back legs have been added which are made out of oak and the top finials, which were once lost, have been replaced- there are a couple of age related scuffs and nibbles, but none of this detracts from the charm.

Very sturdy, the doors are able to come off if you wish- this does make it lighter when transporting, but the piece is one solid structure, please keep this in mind if you order!

This would make a great alternative to a standard wardrobe or linen cupboard, it would also be ideal for storing towels or even used as part of a free standing kitchen!
