Antique Scumble Paint Bookcase

Freestanding Scumble Painted Bookcase.

Circa 1900, this beautiful old book shelf has three sturdy shelves, peg-legs and the most striking patina throughout.

The original paintwork is a beautiful Faux Bois paint- also known as Scumble paint, a technique popular in the Victorian era where patterns were scored into the top coat giving the impression of wood grain.

Sadly this has been painted over with white recently, so I have dry scraped the top layer back to reveal as much of the scumble paint as possible!

Great for storage, this is also a lovely display piece if you're after something more decorative in the home!
