Pitch Pine Housekeepers Cupboard
Pitch Pine Dresser Base.
Full of primitive charm, this antique house keepers cabinet has been handmade out of pitch pine, has sturdy forged hinges and a single brass knob.
Inside are two fixed shelves, a latch on the top of the left door to keep this shut and another latch behind the knob on the right door and two small hooks. The internal sides have a lovely cut-out motif.
Circa early 1800s, this has a lovely unique patina from many years of use- there is historic wood worm, staining and a couple of nibbles to the corners, all of this is shown and reflected in the overall price but does not detract from the charm.
The wood has been treated with 'Everbuild Triple Action Wood Treatment' as an added precaution and the inside shelves have been waxed with a natural beeswax, I have left the exterior raw.
Slimmer than usual, the previous owner has cut a small hole in the reverse for housing wires- this could be a great TV stand, it would also be ideal as part of a freestanding kitchen.
Full of country charm, I believe this was once part of a dresser and is missing the top- this would look great placed on a set of drawers or even hung on a wall if the right fixings were used!
